| テーマ・内容 | Visions of Japan
For centuries, people inside and outside of Japan have developed and explained their understandings of Japan to a wider, global audience. How did they envision Japan, and how have those visions influenced perceptions of Japan at home and abroad? In this class we will investigate the changing visions of Japan, focusing especially on English-language interpretations that have shaped Japan's international communications. The course will be based on lectures, reading and discussion. | |
