｢オーストラリア　Lourdes Hill College｣

私は１月２０日から４月２日までオーストラリアのブリスベンに留学しました。この留学は私の将来の勉強のためにもとても良いものになりました。そこで私のオーストラリアでの経験を少しお話したいと思います。

まずはじめに、学校について話したいと思います。東京とオーストラリアでは時差が一時間と小さく、また学校が始まるまでに三日間の休みがあったので、私は新しい生活にすぐ慣れることができました。学校は１月２３日から始まりました。私が通ったのはローデスヒルカレッジというブリスベンにある伝統ある女子校です。私は高２(Year11）に入りましたが、学期が始まる時期が違うだけなので年齢は同じでした。学校内にはたくさんの建物があり、生徒は授業ごとに移動します。最初の２週間ほどは移動に慣れず困りましたが、誰かに聞けばすぐに教えてくれたり連れて行ってくれました。

オーストラリアの学校では生徒はハウスというものに分けられます。ハリーポッターのようなものです。そしてそれぞれのハウスには中１から高３までの約２５人で構成されるクラスが８クラス程あります。このシステムのおかげで私は同じYear11以外にもたくさんの他学年の生徒とも仲良くなることができました。私は、数B、留学生のための英語の授業、日本語、化学、美術、宗教の６科目の授業を毎週取っていました。さらに私は美術の課外授業で校外で夜景の写真を撮ったりもしました。ここでは夜景の撮り方を１から知ることができ、とても楽しい時間でした。またそれぞれのクラスでは難しい課題が出ることもありましたが、ライティングの力を上達させることができました。また学校にはウィンター先生という留学生の面倒を見てくださっている先生がいらっしゃって、課題などで困った時にはいつでも親切に教えてくださいました。ローデスヒルでの勉強は少し大変でしたが、英語力の上達につながり、良い経験となりました。

次にホームステイ先について話したいと思います。私のホストマザーはフレンドリーで話しやすくとても良い人です。私達は日本のことから将来の夢まで本当にたくさんの事を話しました。ホストマザーは映画好きなのでよく一緒に映画も見ました。オーストラリアでは料理をする機会も多くときどき唐揚げや冷やし中華、牛丼をファミリーに作ってあげました。みんな美味しいと喜んでくれたので嬉しかったです。ホストファミリーとは海や博物館などたくさんのところに行って、とても素敵な時間を過ごすことができました。その分、お別れの時はとても悲しかったです。これからもホストファミリーと連絡を取り続けたいです。

この留学を通して、私はたくさんの素敵な人達と出会い、お互いの文化を共有しました。時々、友達の輪になかなかとけこめないこともありましたが、最終的にはたくさんの友達を作ることができました。この経験は私にとって生涯忘れることのない宝物となると思います。この短期留学のプログラムに参加することができて本当に良かったです。

I went to Brisbane, Australia from January 20st to April 2^nd. It was a really nice experience for my future study, so I want to write about a part of my experience.

First, I'm going to talk about the school.

The time difference between Tokyo and Brisbane was small and I had three days off until the school started, so I got used to the new environment quite soon.

The school started from January 23^rd.I went to Lourdes Hill College, an old girls school in Brisbane. There were many buildings in the school area and we had to move from building to building for each class. I was a little confused in the first two weeks, but students took me everywhere whenever I asked. In Australian schools, students are divided into "houses". It's like "Harry Potter". Anyway, each house has about 8 classrooms consisting of about 25 students from year 7 to year 12. Because of this system, I made friends with not only the same year students, but also many students from different years. I had 6 subjects once a week. I was taking MathB, ESL, Japanese, Chemistry, Visual Arts in Practice and Religion & Ethics. In addition, I took part in a workshop to take night pictures outside school. It was a lot of fun to know how to take night pictures. There were also assignments and they were pretty hard to do, but it helped me to practice for writing. Besides, Ms.Winter, the teacher taking care of international students, helped us whenever we found difficulties. I think studying at Lourdes Hill College was a little hard, but it was a good experience which improved my English.

Next, I want to talk about the homestay program. My host mother was a really nice, friendly and talkative person. I usually talked with her about lots of things like about Japan or my dream and so on. She really loves watching movies, so we often watched a movie together. Sometimes I cooked Japanese dishes such as karaage, hiyashichuka and beef bowl for my host family. They were pleases with them and I was glad to hear it. My host family took me many places. For example, I went to the beach and the museum and so on. I had a wonderful time with them. The time to say good bye was so hard and I was really sad. I think we will stay in touch.

Through the whole experience in Australia, I met so many people and we shared each other's culture. Sometimes I felt it difficult to make friends, but I made lots of friends finally. I'm sure that this experience is going to be a treasure in my life. I'm really glad I could go on the students exchange program.
