楽しかったイベント

We had some special event days when we were in Minnesota and on March 22nd we went to Humboldt High School in St. Paul. St. Paul is the capitol city of Minnesota and Humboldt High School is the school Mr. Garcia graduated from. It is a public high school so their students don't have to wear uniforms. The school has many ethnic groups. Humboldt and Shattuck-St. Mary's have different atmospheres. Humboldt gives all students breakfast every morning, so they eat their breakfast at school. Humboldt's classes are separated by students' grades so I thought Humboldt is more like Japan's school system than Shattuck-St. Mary's.
On Monday, March 25th we had a cook festival after our classes! We made Japanese food like onigiri, okonomiyaki and chirashizushi. Our group made nikujaga. At first we thought we could make a delicious nikujaga, but unfortunately we had a little problem. We ended up making a "nikujaga soup." Maybe most of the Shattuck students thought nikujaga is a soup, but that was OK. It didn't matter.
On March 27th we went to downtown Minneapolis to see Minnesota's NBA basketball team. The Minnesota Timberwolves played the Los Angeles Lakers. It was amazing!! All of the fans cheered wildly and at halftime they had many special performances.

ミネソタ滞在中にはたくさんのイベントがありました。3月22日にはセントポールにあるフンボルト・ハイスクールに行きました。セントポールはミネソタの州都で、フンボルト・ハイスクールは引率してくれたガルシア先生の母校です。公立の学校なので生徒たちは制服を着ていません。この学校にはいろいろな民族の人がいて、シャタックとはずいぶん違った雰囲気です。フンボルトでは毎朝朝食が配られ、教室で食べることができます。授業は学年ごとに分かれていて、シャタックよりも日本の高校に近いと感じました。
3月25日（月）には放課後にクックフェストがあり、おにぎり、お好み焼き、ちらしずし等の日本食を作りました。私たちのグループは肉じゃがを作ったのですが、いろいろ問題があり、肉じゃがスープになってしまいました。シャタック生は肉じゃがというものはスープなんだと思ったかもしれません。
27日にはミネアポリスに行って、NBAバスケットボールの試合を見ました。「ミネソタ・ティンバーウルブズ」対「ロスアンジェルス・レイカーズ」の試合でした。ファンたちが大声で応援したり、ハーフタイムには色々なパフォーマンスがあって、楽しむことができました。
